Overlooking the village, this 11th century feudal castle was built by Gauthier Giffard, powerful lord of Normandy and companion of William the Conqueror, then completed by his son Gauthier II Giffard. In its present state, the castle is essentially composed of the circular mound and a fortified surrounding wall, where Saint Louis and Henri IV are said to have stayed.
